Public Support for Gaza

gaza

Iranians in big numbers took to streets across the country Friday, in a show of support for the oppressed people of Palestine and condemned the Zionist regime’s atrocities and heinous crimes in Gaza.

Demonstrators from all walks of life in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians strongly condemned the oppression against defenseless Palestinian men, women and children at the hands of the usurper state. They also slammed the so-called international community, human rights advocates, and Arab regimes for their muted response to the pattern of Zionist crimes.

Demonstrators in Tehran converged at Embassy of Palestine holding a variety of banners. Some read “Down with the US”, “Down with Israel”, “Down with Zionism”. They demanded an end to crippling blockade of Gaza that has made life unbearable for a majority of the 1.5 million people in the tiny strip.

At the end of rallies, a statement was released that condemned the unending Zionist crimes and underlined the urgent need to lift the siege on Gaza to allow essential food and medicinal supplies to the impoverished Gazans.

Meanwhile, high-ranking Iranian officials, hand in hand with the people, voiced support for the innocent Palestinians. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, speaking on the sidelines of the rallies, said the Zionists are facing a deadlock and have lost their purpose of being and philosophy of existence.

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani termed collaboration of some Arab regimes with the Zionist state as disgraceful, more so because the “Gazans are in the grip of a major human catastrophe."

Furthermore, the Islamic Propagation Coordination Council, last week, expressed growing concern over the fast deteriorating condition of the besieged Gazans, and announced Iran’s preparedness to dispatch much-needed humanitarian aid to the strip.

The Zionist regime is facing mounting domestic problems following a humiliating defeat in its war against the Lebanese Hezbollah in 2006.

The Palestinians are being subjected to collective punishment for voting in favor of Hamas in one of the freest and fairest vote ever held in the Arab world.

The democratically-elected Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Hanieh has strongly refused to recognize the Zionist regime in visible contrast to the huge embrace of Israel by the head of Palestine self-rule authority Mahmoud Abbas.

As the Gaza siege continues, most of the 1.5 million Palestinians are struggling with the harshest and most barbaric conditions, facing a serious shortage of fuel, food and medication.

The Zionist entity has flagrantly violated UN resolutions, but international bodies including the UN Security Council under heavy US, British and French pressure has remained indifferent to the Zionist lawlessness.
