Dr. Nour Ali Boroumand

(1285 – 1355 / 1906 – 1976)

Dr. Boroumand was born inTehran in 1285. He was interested in music since childhood. At the age of 13, he started learning music with Darvish Khan.

He continued his education inGermany in medicine. But unfortunately he had to quit his college for an eye disease which led to him blind. After he returnedIran, he started music seriously.

For some years he studied with Habib Sama’ee, the learn Aqa Mirza Abdollah Row from Esmail Qahremani which lasted 12 years. Also he recoded an Album with his teacher’s voice, Mr. Qahremani.

Nour Ali Boroumand was the first master in music faculty inuniversity ofTehran. He taught Aqa Mirza Abdollah Row for Iranian music in university. He could play all the Iranian instruments well such as Santour, Setar, Zarb, and also Kamancheh and Violin. 

Nour Ali Boroumand died in 1355 but his glorious deeds towards traditional Iranian music and training interested students will remain prominent for everybody.
