Iran is set to hold a Non-Aligned Movement meeting on filmmaking and cinema at the 31st Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran.

Iran is planning to invite the renowned filmmakers of the Non-Aligned Movement member states to establish NAM filmmakers’ union, said the secretary of the 2013 Fajr International Film Festival, Muhammad Reza Abbasian.

“The establishment of NAM filmmakers’ union will open new horizons for the filmmakers and the cinematic organizations of the member state countries,” he noted.

The summit is slated to be organized by the Fajr film festival in collaboration with Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Islamic Cultural Relations Organization.

Iran is also to host the Non-Aligned Movement ministerial meeting on tourism in 2013.

The 16th summit of the NAM member states was held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, from August 26 to 31, 2012.

NAM, an international organization with 120 member states and 21 observer countries, is considered as not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc.

The 31st edition of the Fajr International Film Festival is scheduled to be held from January 31 through February 10, 2013.
