Muhammad Rasoul-Allah (PBUH) offensive operation (January 2nd, 1981)

soldiers

Owing to difficult situation for conducting military operation in the region, Iraq showed no much attempt on the northwest region. However, extensive attendance of anti- revolutionaries in the region had engaged a notable number of Iranian forces and made a secure condition for Iraqi borders.

After repelling anti-revolutionaries into Iraqi territory and accessing to international borders, Iraqis made an overall assault and captured border margins stretching from Nosud to Marivan in March, 1980.

Under this condition and the necessity of supporting the friendly forces operation in the east headquarter area; the need for accomplishment of an operation in northwest seemed highly essential. There upon a series of operational plans were designed and executed in borderline margins.

As far as possible, those objectives were identified and selected for such operations which could have a suitable ground for a rather extensive psychological, propaganda operation, make the enemy transfer and deploy his forces, and open a new front.

Iraqi Toveileh Township located on the northwest of Iranian Nosud border section was selected to be targeted by Muhammad Rasoul-Allah operation (PBUH). The Toveileh temporary seizure by Islam combatants secured the predetermined objectives.

This operation was launched at six in the morning on January 2nd, 1981 and terminated on the same day.

Result:

-Complete destruction of enemy's bases around Toveileh, seizure and secure of Toveileh Township.

-Killing and wounding more than 1000 Iraqis with captivity of more than 150 Iraqi soldiers.

-10 guns, 50 different Iraqi vehicles plus four tanks and personnel carriers were destroyed in this operation.
