Uzbek Translation of "Majid Stories" to Come Out Next Year
Uzbek scholars are going to translate and publish Hushang Moradi Kermani’s book "The Majid Stories" into Uzbek language next year.
Two Uzbek Iranologists met with Iran’s cultural attache in Tashkent Habib Saffarzadeh and discussed issues such as research work needed on Persian language and literature.
They decided to translate "The Majid Stories" because of its attraction for children and young adults.
"The Majid Stories" is comprised of 38 stories and has been translated into several languages. The stories were written in 1974, and later published in a book.
The work became popular when it was made into a TV series aired on IRIB.
Tajik State National University also published "The Majid Stories" in Persian using Cyrillic script.
Moradi Kermani (born September 7, 1944) is an eminent writer of books for children and teenagers.
Several Iranian movies and TV-series have been based on his works. In 2006, Dariush Mehrjuii directed "Mom’s Guest" based on his novel with the same title.
A number of Moradi Kermani’s books have been translated into English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Arabic, and Armenian. His autobiography has been published under the title "Believe It or Not".
In addition, Moradi Kermani is the lone Iranian author who has been nominated for the 2009 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, which is presented annually by the Swedish government.
