Pakistani lawmaker to counter Fitna

Pakistani lawmaker
A Pakistani lawmaker will fund a movie to 'respond to the malicious propaganda' made by a Dutch politician's anti-Islam film, Fitna.

"This film will show Quran's world view. This film will show Quran's concept of humanity and that how important human life is,'' Sen. Babar Awan said in a news conference on Sunday.

The Pakistani film, which has not been named, will be released in cinemas at the beginning of Ramadan, the Islamic fasting month, likely in September, in English, Arabic and Pakistan's main language, Urdu, Awan said.

He said that Islamic scholars have written the script for his movie and that shooting will start soon and take about 100 days to finish.

Awan did not say how much the movie will cost.

The 15-minute anti-Islam film Fitna or Ordeal, by Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders, which appeared on the Internet on March 27, triggered angry street protests by world Muslims.
