Sculpture

The fifth Tehran Contemporary Sculpture Biennial is to open on November 22 at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.

The secretary of the fifth biennial, Taher Sheikholhokamaii, provided details of the biennial at a press conference here on Tuesday.

He said the exhibit will have a Free Form section and Peace, Life, and Future Horizons section.

Works submitted to the biennial secretariat should focus on the cultural and religious traditions of Iran, Sheikholhokamaii added.

He went on to say that applicants must send their resume and a photo album of their works to the secretariat of the biennial by late August, adding that the selection board will choose two works by each selected artist to display in the exhibit.

“Young artists can send photos of their works to the secretariat to help prepare the catalogue of the exhibit, which will be published on the first day of the exhibit,” he explained.

Parisa Khazabi, Behruz Darash, Hamidollah Rezaii, Kurosh Golnari, Iraj Mohammadi, and Mojtaba Musavi are the members of the Policy Making Council of the Tehran Contemporary Sculpture Biennial.

Commenting on the future of the biennial, he said that special planning is required to turn a national event into an international event.

The Iranian Academy of Arts, the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art are some of the sponsors of the event.
