Bokhara pays tribute to film critic Kavusi

 The Iranian literary monthly Bokhara honored Amir-Hushang Kavusi, the father of Iranian cinematic literature and criticism, in a ceremony at Tehran’s Iranian Artists Forum .

Ali Dehbashi, Bokhara magazine’s editor in chief, referred to him as the pioneer of his generation in introducing cinematic literature to Iran.

“With sixty years of exertion in the realm of cinematic criticism, Kavusi is one of the few persons who contributed to the development of the Iranian motion picture industry,” Film magazine’s editor in chief Hushang Golmakani said. 

Speaking at the ceremony Jamshid Arjomand, film critic, described Kavusi as a veteran scholar whose criticism has always been brave, serious and unbiased. The 85 year-old cinema critic was the first person to introduce the concept of national cinema to Iran.

The vocalist Pari Zanganeh, who has been blind for many years, also paid homage to Kavusi during the event.

At the end of the ceremony a film of the biography of Kavusi was screened.
