Darul Ihsan University (DIU)

http://www.diu.edu/

Unlike many other universities of Bangladesh,Darul Ihsan University (DIU)has been integrating two-education system viz., religious and conventional right at the primary stage. This feature of the University clearly distinguishes it from other educational institutions of Bangladesh.Since its establishment in 1989, it has been striving hard to offer the best possible state of the art of hi-tech facilities on its various campuses. All of its programs are highly competitive and meet the need of national goals and aspirations for preparing the students to take leadership in the fields of education, business, industry, science and technology. It obtained the formal approval from the Government of Bangladesh in 1993.
DIU, a brainchild of late Professor Syed Ali Ashraf, is a unique academic Institution, the only one of its kind in the country. The vision of the University is to establish a life-long community Institution committed to develop an education system which will guide the educated to create an ever-improving social order in the world, so that the socio-political, economic, and cultural ethos can be nurtured on the basis of faith, knowledge–intellectual, material, moral and spiritual–that can be acquired freely according to its hierarchy; doubts can be removed; justice can be prevailed; wastage and misuse of energy get restricted; greedy competitiveness remains controlled; moderation becomes way of life; and above all, transience of the worldly life and permanence of life hereafter always remain present in the minds of the educated. This vision is expected to be realized through Curricular and Co-curricular activities in which the teachers and the taught are involved.
DIU was founded as a private with the idea of setting up of an institution which is post-modernist in outlook and faith based in philosophy. The essence of this philosophy is that the basic values of life are enshrined in religion. Faith in Almighty Allah entails upon a person the inner perception to distinguish between right and wrong. It is, therefore, necessary to impart opportunity to our youngsters to be intellectually and emotionally awakened about the sense of responsibility and thereby to inculcate the moral values in their minds to serve the greater interest of the country.
