Iranian illustrator Alireza Goldouzian is to be awarded at the 4th edition of Sharjah Children's Reading Festival (SCRF) in the United Arab Emirates.

Goldouzian has won the third prize of the illustration section of the festival and will receive USD 4000, Mehr News Agency reported.

Mexican illustrator Gabriel Pacheco and Spanish artist David Pintor are the other winners of the event which kicked off on April 23 at Sharjah Expo Centre and will run until May 2.

According to organizers of the festival, more than 200 Arab and foreign publishing houses have taken part in the event with over 20,000 printed, audio-visual and electronic titles.

SCRF has hosts 30 guests including authors, intellectuals, artists and researchers in the field of children's literature.

Iran’s Shabaviz Publication was the guest of honor during the opening ceremony of the festival.

Goldouzian was born in 1976 in Tehran and holds an MA in graphics. He has won several other international awards such as Japan's 2002Baij, Belgrade’s 2003 Golden Pen and the 2005 Grand Prix of the Biennale of Illustrations of Bratislava.
