Iran film to compete in Montenegro

Iranian filmmaker Saeed Nabi’s natural documentary Anzali Lagoon is slated to compete at the 2011 edition of the International TV Festival of Montenegro.

Nabi’s film will compete with programs of 70 TV stations from 30 countries for the Golden Olive Award of the event which will be held in the city of Bar, 30 Km north of Ulcinj, Mehr News Agency reported.

Saeed Nabi received the Golden Olive Award of the festival in 2007 for his Dark Night.

The 39-minute Anzali Lagoon is a production of the economy department of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcast (IRIB) and depicts the negative impacts of human industrial life on the ecosystem of Anzali Lagoon.

Nabi has produced his film in 40 days using high tech professional wildlife equipment.

Anzali Lagoon is a coastal liman in the Caspian Sea near the port city of Bandar-e Anzali, in the northern Iranian province of Gilan. The Lagoon is known as a good place for bird watching.

Anzali Lagoon also took part in the 2011 edition of Water, Sea & the Oceans International Film Festival (IFF) held in the Republic of Czech from September 16 to 19, 2011.

The production also participated in the 2011 edition of Jahorina International Ecological and Tourism Festival held in Bosnia in September.

The International TV Festival of Montenegro is a significant media (TV) event in South East Europe and has represented the largest expo of TV production since it was launched in 1994.

The festival presents productions of many renowned TV stations such as RAI (Italy), Cineteve and Art (France), ORT (Russia), BBC (Great Britain), state TV stations from Sweden, Romania, Bulgaria, Spain, and some other TV stations and production houses from around the world.

This year’s International TV Festival of Montenegro will be held from October 27 to 31, 2011.
