Egyptians rally to demand civilian rule
thousands gather at cairo’s liberation square on september 9, 2011

Tens of thousands of demonstrators have once again taken to Cairo’s iconic Liberation Square, to demand that the military government hand over power to a civilian one.

According to Press TV, the massive rallies come months after a historic revolution ousted former dictator Hosni Mubarak from power.

Protesters gathered in the square after the Friday Prayers to join the protest dubbed "Correcting the Path."

Protesters say all political prisoners must be released and an investigation launched into the conduct of officials responsible for the violence used against them.

They are also furious over the slow pace of reform by the ruling military council and want a clear road map and comprehensive timetable for transition.

Protesters say they are skeptical about a rapid transition toward democracy and civilian rule and maintain that demonstrations will continue until all their demands are met.
