Gaddafi’s youngest son Khamis killed

khamis gaddafi, the youngest son of fugitive libyan ruler muammar gaddafi

Fugitive Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi’s youngest son, Khamis Gaddafi, has been killed in a battle near Tripoli and was buried in Zlitan.

According to Reuters, Colonel Al-Mahdi Al-Haragi, a senior official of the revolutionary forces in charge of the Tripoli Brigade, said on Monday that he had confirmation that Khamis was badly wounded in a battle near Ben Walid and Tarhoni.

He added that Khamis was taken to a hospital but died of his wounds, but did not say exactly when Khamis died.

Khamis Gaddafi had been the commander of the base of the elite 32 Brigade, which had been the last stronghold of forces loyal to Gaddafi in the Tripoli area until it was captured by the revolutionary forces on Saturday, August 27.

Charred skeletons of about 50 people were found in a makeshift prison next to the base on the day it was captured.

There were two other reports earlier this year claiming that Khamis had been killed.

There were rumors in March that he had died after a Libyan air force pilot deliberately crashed his jet into Muammar Gaddafi’ s compound, and in August the rebels claimed that they had killed him.

He appeared on Libyan television after both reports to prove he was still alive.

Revolutionary fighters, who are making slow progress in their advance on Gaddafi’ s hometown Sirte, east of Tripoli, want to capture the country’ s fugitive dictator so they can proclaim final victory in the six-month-old uprising.
