“Light of Awareness” explores personal life of Imam Khomeini

culture ministry muhammad husseini (l) and a number of the organizers visit the “light of awareness” exhibition, which displays photos of imam khomeini.

The photo exhibit “Light of Awareness” featuring the personal life and political activities of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was opened Saturday at the Niavaran Cultural Center.

A group of foreign guests attending the 22nd anniversary of the death of Imam Khomeini along with the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Muhammad Husseini took part in an inauguration ceremony where a collection of 118 photos are on display.

The program began with short speeches by some of the guests and was followed by brief remarks from the minister on Imam Khomeini, as was reported in a press release on Sunday.

“You certainly know about Imam Khomeini, his impact on the region and the resistance of the Iranian nation during the war, but when you are here in Iran you are able to feel it intensely,” Husseini said.

“Imam Khomeini spent most of his time reciting the Holy Qur’an, which is quite obvious from the photos. He was a patient man and used to guide the revolution with all his persistence.

“Imam regarded Islam to be far beyond geographical boundaries and used to say that the Muslim nation must seek solidarity.

“Imam Khomeini revived religion once again during a time when the East and West believed that the era of religion had come to an end,” he stated.

Afterwards, the Niavaran Chamber Orchestra conducted by Nader Mortezapur performed the composition “Alas” in memory of Imam Khomeini’s death which occurred on June 3, 1989.

The exhibit will be running until June 9 at the gallery number one of the center.
