Iran’s “Nader and Simin: A Separation” and “Rainy Seasons” are competing at the Mosaïques Festival of World Culture in London.

The event, marking its 13th year, is held from June 2 to 9 in London’s theaters annually.

Asghar Farhadi’s blockbuster, “Nader and Simin: A Separation”, which was fully booked on the festival’s website, went on screen at the Ciné lumière on June 4.

A portrayal of the break-up of a marriage, “A Separation” won a Golden Bear for the best film at the Berlin film festival and its cast ensemble received best actor and actress Silver Bears at the event.

“Rainy Seasons” directed by Majid Barzegar’s also went on screen at the Ciné lumière on June 5.

The film recounts the story of Sina, a teenager from today’s middle class in Tehran, who experiences a changed life on the verge of his parents’ divorce. Alone and a bit of a dreamer, he finds the domestic situation quite tough and demanding and is forced to make daring choices.

Sponsored by the Institut Français, the Mosaïques Festival of World Culture began in 1999 with a special season of films, concerts, exhibitions, and talks focusing on North Africa. The festival is now and has since expanded to embrace, celebrate and promote cultural diversity from around the world.
