Iran exhibits works by female artists

Iran is exhibiting works by female artists as part of the programs marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) daughter, Fatimah (PBUH), in Tehran.

Woman of Yesterday, Woman of Today displays paintings, drawings, pottery works, handicrafts and jewelry created by 25 veteran and aspiring Iranian artists at Saheb Qaranieh Palace of Tehran’s Niavaran Historical and Cultural Complex.

Visitors can also see seven exquisite artworks from the Niavaran palace, four from the Saheb Qaranieh Palace and seven others from the Saheb Qaranieh library.

Woman of Yesterday, Woman of Today opened during a ceremony on May 24, with prominent painter Iran Darroudi attending the event, ISNA reported.

The France-based 74-year-old artist has presented three oil paintings in the exhibition.

Darroudi studied art at the Ecole Superier des Beaux-Arts and the Ecole du Louvre in Paris and has participated in numerous exhibitions in Iran and other countries, including the US, Italy, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Mexico, Germany, Japan and Canada. She is currently living and working in France.

Parvaneh Etemadi, Farideh Lashai, Mansoureh Husseini, Mahin Azima, Simin Khakpour, Shahla Habibi, Azadeh Ahmadipour, Marzieh Lorestani, Gizella Varga-Sinai and Sara Tansaz are also among the artists whose works have been showcased in the exhibition.
