Intl. Student Theater Festival wraps up

TEHRAN -- The winners of 13th International Student Theater Festival were announced during the closing ceremony on Saturday at the main hall of the Tehran City Theater Complex.

At the ceremony, the stage director and scholar Muhammadreza Khaki was honored and officials paid tribute to scholar Farzan Sojudi for his achievements in the field of theater.

Fattollah Niazi from the Islamic Azad University Central Tehran Branch won the Best Director Award for his play “The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds”.

The Best Playwright Prize went to Atefeh Nik-Azad from the Omidieh branch of Islamic Azad University for her play “The Lower Floor at the Paternal House”.

Atefeh Nik-Azad also won the Best Actress Prize for her role at “The Lower Floor at the Paternal House”. The Best Actor Award went to Sorush Taheri from the University Of Applied Science And Technology for his role in “Look at the Sky”.

A total of 75 Iranian theater troupes and 700 participants competed in different sections of the festival.

The 13th International Student Theater Festival was held from May 14 to 21 at a number of Tehran’s theaters.
