Big breakfast, new slimming diet

American scientists have suggested that starting the day with a breakfast high in carbohydrates and protein can help reduce weight.

According to a study presented at the Endocrine Society's 90th Annual Meeting, obese and physically inactive women who eat well in the morning and watch the carbs and calories during the day shed more weight compared to their breakfast-skipping peers.

The study showed that the 'big breakfast' diet helps control appetite and cravings for sweet food and starches. It is also healthier, because it allows people to eat more fruit.

Previous studies had reported that a very low carbohydrate diet is not a good weight loss technique because it has no effect on compulsory eating.
