Movies “Christ” & “Abraham, Khalilullah” Compete in Golden Minbar Film Festival .

The movie “Christ” by Iranian director Nader Talibzadeh was screened on saturday at the Golden Minbar Film Festival in Russia on the third day of the event.

The film was well received by the audience, says Alireza Shahrokhi, manager of festival affairs office at IRIB’s international media department.

Another Iranian movie, “Abraham, Khalilullah (friend of God)” directed by Mohammadreza Varzi, is to be screened at the festival on Monday.

The Golden Minbar International Muslim Film Festival began in Kazan, Tatarstan's capital, on September 6, bringing together actors and filmmakers from around the Muslim world.

Ravil Gainutdin, the chairman of Russia's Council of Muftis, came up with the idea for the festival as a means of combating the negative portrayal of Muslims in films.

The seven-day event features short and feature-length films, documentary films, and television reportages.

200 films from 46 countries- including Palestine, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bahrain, Algeria, Islamic Republic of Iran, Tunisia, Iraq, Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the US, India, and Canada -are screened at the festival.
