“Fateful Night” star shines at Taiwanese festival

Hamid Farrokhnejad was crowned as the best leading actor at the 54th Asia-Pacific Film Festival in Taipei on Sunday.

He was honored for his role in “The Fateful Night” by Iranian director Shahram Asadi.

He plays war hero Daryaqoli Surani, who joins the people in Abadan during the early days of the1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war to prevent his hometown from being captured by Iraqis.

The Best Leading Actress award went to Sandrine Pinna for her role in “Yang Yang” from Taiwan.

In addition, the Indian film “Janala” directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta was presented with the Best Feature Film award and Yasmin Ahmad of Malaysia won the Best Director award for “The Convert”.
