Iranian actor Mahmoud Bahrami dies

Veteran Iranian stage and television actor Mahmoud Bahrami has died of respiratory problems at the age of 73 in the capital city of Tehran.

Bahrami, who was known for 40 years of memorable performances, was taken to Labbafinejad hospital for lung infection where he passed away.

The veteran actor began his artistic career by writing short stories at the age of 18 and later became one of the most successful figures of Iranian cinema, television and theater.

Catch me if You Can, Taxi Driver, Spaghetti in Eight Minutes and Pick Pockets Don’t Go to Heaven are among Bahrami’s works.

Bahrami’s last cinematic performance was Marriage in Extra Time directed by Saeed Soheili in 2009.
