Iranian karate athletes bag 18 medals

Iran's karate champions have bagged 7 gold, 3 silver, and 8 bronze medals at the 6th World Shitoryushitokai Karate Championship underway in China.

In the last day of the World Shitoryushitokai Karate Championship, Iran's women karate team won a gold medal after two victories against their Japanese and Chinese rivals.

The country's women athletes also grabbed a bronze medal in Karate kata.

In the men's group, Iranian karate athletes also beat their competitors from Japan, Mexico and China to win 'first place' and a gold medal in the Karate kata.

The last day's wins brought the total of Iran's medal tally to 18 at the international event.

Iranian athletes competed with rivals from 26 other countries, including China, Kazakhstan, Mexico, the US, and Venezuela.

The 6th World Shitoryushitokai Karate Championship concludes in Beijing on August 23 after four days of competition.
